step01

Basic TieNewborns 8-25 lb

Perform the Basic Tie prior to putting your baby in the wrap. You can also do this step before leaving your home with baby.

Most newborns can be worn from birth, although if your baby has any health challenges or weighs less than 8 lb please discuss options with your pediatrician.

  • Unfold your baby wrap and center the brand tag just above your midsection. The higher the tag, the higher your baby will sit.

  • Cross the two sections behind your back. Keep fabric tight and flat around your midsection. Holding the hemline of the fabric walk your hands away from your waist and fan out the fabric.

  • Beginning with either side, bring the fabric over each shoulder similar to putting on a jacket. Try to keep the fabric flat on your back and over your shoulders.

  • The fabric should create an X on your back. Keeping the fabric flat and tight takes practice. We suggest making adjustments after baby is snuggled in.

  • Gather up the ends of the fabric and put them through the tag section. The tag section should remain snug above your midsection.

  • Keeping each section laid flat on your body pull down slightly to ensure there is no slack at your shoulder. This step will keep baby tighter and higher in the wrap.

  • Cross fabric once again creating an X just behind the tag section. The X will determine the baby’s height on your body. Bring fabric once again to the back.

  • Wrap the remaining fabric around to your waist and tie off with a double knot. For plus-size or taller parents, simply tie off in the back. You do not need to cross again to the front of your waist for tying off.

Classic HoldNewborns 8-25 lb

Perform the Classic Hold prior to proceeding to the Newborn Hold section of this manual.

Babies may be worn in the Classic Hold (legs out) from birth although newborns (under 3 months) may enjoy the newborn modification, feet tucked in fabric, shown on the next page.

  • Place baby on your shoulder as if you were about to burp them. Grab the fabric section closest to your chest and guide the baby’s leg through it, placing the fabric at the back of their knee. Do the same on the other side.

  • Settle the baby into a chest to chest position. This will ensure the baby has a proper squat position which will best support their hips and spine.

  • Spread the fabric over the baby’s shoulder and around their bottom until you reach the opposite knee. Do this on both sides.

  • Spread the fabric from knee to knee and settle the baby into a seated position.

  • Reaching over to your side grab a hold of the highest section as pictured. This is known as the tag section.

  • Guide the tag section over baby’s leg and place it at the back of their knee. You may use your opposite hand to prop the baby’s bottom up. Do this on both sides.

  • Once baby’s legs are through the tag section, walk this section up the baby’s back until the tag reaches the top of baby’s neck. Make adjustments to the wrap once baby has settled in.

  • Your baby should be close enough to kiss. For added comfort, fan fabric at your shoulder. Let the baby decide when and what side they will lay their head prior to tucking it in. Tuck their head with the shoulder section only.

Newborn Hold0-3 months

The Newborn Hold is a simple modification after baby is snug in the Classic Hold. Perfect for babies 0-3 months old, this newborn modification will keep baby’s hips more supported, keep their legs and feet warm, and can assist their spine as it transitions from womb to world.

Stretch the bottom hemline of the tag section over each of the baby's legs and feet. Add support to their hips by ensuring their knees are tucked up into their midsection similar to how they are in the womb.

This position is referred to as the “M” position or spread squat position. Baby’s legs should be spread comfortably to their own hip width and their bottoms should sit below their knees

Baby will let you know when they are ready to have their feet out more regularly by cues such as stretching and kicking.
