Research shows that babywearing can increase maternal bonding and reduce symptoms of postpartum depression. One study found that mothers who used a baby carrier for at least three hours a day were less likely to experience symptoms of depression and anxiety than those who did not use a carrier. Another study found that mothers who used a baby carrier had higher levels of oxytocin, a hormone associated with bonding and stress reduction.
