What is TENCEL™ Modal?

Modal fibers start as beech wood from responsibly managed European forests. The wood is turned into pulp, then transformed into soft fibers using a resource-efficient process that recovers and reuses much of the water and materials involved. The result is an incredibly soft, lightweight fabric that feels cool against the skin, breathes well, and stays comfortable all day long.

Frequently asked questions

Title

What is the difference between Modal and cotton jersey?

Most baby wraps are made from cotton jersey fabric. Tuck and Bundle wraps are made from TENCEL™ Micro Modal, a premium fiber derived from responsibly sourced beech wood. Compared to cotton jersey, TENCEL™ Modal is softer, more breathable, better at regulating temperature, and less likely to feel heavy or stiff over time. It also has a lower environmental impact, requiring less water and generating fewer carbon emissions than the cotton jersey fibers. The result is a wrap that's gentler on your baby's skin, more comfortable for parents, and kinder to the planet.

What is the difference between Modal and bamboo?

Both TENCEL™ Modal and bamboo fabrics are known for their softness and breathability. The difference is in how they're sourced and produced. Most bamboo fabric is heavily processed with chemicals. TENCEL™ Modal is backed by third-party certifications for sustainability and safety. It's produced using resource-efficient processes and offers the same silky-soft feel parents love, with greater transparency into where the fiber comes from and how it's made.

Why is TENCEL™ Modal a safe choice for babies?

TENCEL™ Modal is exceptionally soft, breathable, and gentle on delicate skin. Our fabric is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, meaning it has been independently tested for hundreds of potentially harmful substances and verified as safe for direct contact with babies. Combined with responsibly sourced fibers and carefully selected dyes, it gives parents confidence that the fabric closest to their baby is both comfortable and safe.

Are water-soluble dyes really safer for a baby?

Yes. Conventional dye processes can leave chemical residue in fabric. Water-soluble dyes are part of why our wraps carry OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification. This certification means the finished fabric has been independently tested and verified to be free from harmful levels of hundreds of substances, giving parents added peace of mind about what touches their baby's skin.

What makes the Tuck and Bundle wrap different from other baby wraps?

We prioritize quality over shortcuts. Certified materials, rigorous safety standards, responsible manufacturing, and full supply chain transparency all contribute to a wrap that's thoughtfully made from start to finish.

How long will the Tuck and Bundle baby wrap last?

The Tuck and Bundle wrap is designed to support babies from 8–35 pounds (approximately 0–18 months), though many families continue using it beyond that depending on their baby's size and comfort. Made from durable TENCEL™ Micro Modal, the fabric is designed to maintain its softness, stretch, and color through years of use. With proper care, many parents save their wrap for future children or pass it along to family and friends.
