Buying Tuck and Bundle with Your HSA/FSA: What You Need to Know

Tuck and Bundle wraps are so much more than just a convenience, they can play a meaningful role in your postpartum recovery and your baby’s development. By offering HSA/FSA eligibility with an LMN, we hope to make it even easier for families to access the support they deserve.

What is an HSA/FSA Account?

Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) are special accounts that let you set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for medical expenses. These funds can be used for a wide range of health-related purchases, often including items you use every day as a parent.

While some health-related products are automatically eligible for HSA/FSA spending, others, like baby wraps, may qualify when accompanied by a Letter of Medical Necessity.

What is a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN)?

A Letter of Medical Necessity is like a doctor's note. It's issued by a licensed healthcare provider to document why a product is medically needed for your or your baby's health. This letter qualifies certain purchases to be HSA/FSA eligible.

We've partnered with Sika Health to make this process easy and fast. Simply select "Sika Health" at checkout and follow a short intake form to determine eligibility.

Medical Uses of Babywearing That Qualify for an LMN

Wearing your baby isn’t just convenient, it can be deeply beneficial to both baby and parent. Babywearing can provide meaningful support for the following conditions, especially when parents understand how these issues affect early development and family well-being:

  • Flat Head Syndrome (Plagiocephaly): Keeping baby upright and off the back of the head can help reduce pressure and promote natural skull shape.

  • Colic and Gas Relief: Gentle movement and upright positioning while being worn can help soothe discomfort and support digestion.

  • Low Milk Supply: Increased skin-to-skin contact through babywearing encourages bonding and can help stimulate milk production.

  • Postpartum Depression: Staying physically close to baby can help improve emotional well-being and reduce feelings of isolation.

  • Hip Dysplasia: Wraps support ergonomic positioning with baby's legs in the “M” shape, which is recommended for healthy hip development.

  • Reflux/GERD: Being worn in an upright position after feeding can help reduce symptoms and improve digestion.

  • Laryngomalacia: Upright positioning helps ease breathing difficulties associated with this condition.

  • Digestive Immaturity: Babywearing can support digestion and comfort for babies whose systems are still developing.

  • Torticollis: Encourages proper neck positioning and provides gentle movement to support muscle development.

  • Postpartum Recovery: Offers hands-free comfort and promotes bonding while aiding physical healing.

If any of these apply, you may be eligible for an LMN to use your HSA/FSA funds.

Common Questions

How long is an LMN valid? LMNs are valid for 12 months from the date they’re signed.

What if I paid with a regular card? You can still get reimbursed! Submit your receipt and LMN through your HSA/FSA provider’s portal.

What info do I need to provide? Your name, contact info, symptoms, medical history, and a photo ID to verify identity.

What if I’m not approved? If Sika's provider doesn’t find a qualifying need, you won’t be able to use HSA/FSA for the purchase. But you can always buy your wrap with a standard payment method.
